Will there be free Wi-Fi in Jannah?
How about sleek race cars?
And finger-lickin’ good KFC?
Recently, a Pakistani humanitarian and singer, Shehzad Roy, wondered in his Insta post if we’d choose hell or heaven if there was Wi-Fi in hell but not in heaven. Of course, we’d think it’s odd to imagine such things in heaven. In fact, even the sahabah (companions of the prophet) back in the Prophet (SAW)’s time had exactly such questions popping up in their minds according to their own wishes.
A man asked the Prophet (SAW), “O Messenger of Allah, will there be camels in Paradise?” He said, “If Allah admits you into Paradise, you will have therein whatever your soul desires and pleases your eyes.” [Tirmidhī 2543]
So guess what? You’re in for a treat! Jannah isn’t only about rivers and gardens but also about an upbeat social life, adventures and parties. Allah (SWT) reminds us that,
“Verily, the Companions of the Garden shall that Day have joy in all that they do.” [Quran 36:55]
In essence, it’s ALL you want. Even surfing social media? Yes, and more!
“A (small) place equal to an area occupied by a whip in Paradise is better than the (whole) world and whatever is in it.” [Sahih al-Bukhari – 6415]
Imagine all the goodies of this world: the latest smartphones, celebrity mansions, lifetime friendships, the smell of rain and true love. In comparison to Jannah, it’s all nothing. So let your imagination run wild and brace yourself for a whole lotta fun.
Remember, Allah (SWT) is in charge of our hospitality in Jannah. Doubting the pleasures of Jannah is like doubting His ability to please us. That’s silly, knowing He’s the one who created both us and our desires. Cracking jokes on it may signal disrespect. How so? It undermines His power to give us pleasure and pain. Know that in serious matters like Jannah and Jahanum, it is His Justice and His Mercy that is being manifested in the physical form. If we adopt a light and casual attitude towards Jahannum, we will start living non-seriously, definitely not something we’d want to normalise! So let’s steer clear of any mockery and trust our Creator to create our perfect happy ending.
And so, folks! We wish Shehzad Roy the best guidance and unlimited Wi-Fi in Jannah for his social welfare and humanitarian efforts. May Allah (SWT) make us all the companions of Jannah.
Very well written 👏
